Named object detection is a computer vision technique that identifies specific types of objects within an image or video and determines where they appear. An AI model analyzes visual patterns and assigns recognized object categories to detected regions, often represented by bounding boxes. This allows systems to distinguish multiple objects in a scene and understand their positions without manually reviewing every frame.

For example, a warehouse camera can detect forklifts, boxes, and workers and determine where each is located. This can improve visibility, safety, and operational efficiency. Named object detection is widely used in autonomous vehicles, surveillance, manufacturing, retail analytics, robotics, traffic monitoring, and automated inventory systems.
