Memory Optimization is the process of reducing the amount of memory a software application, AI model, or computing workload requires while maintaining acceptable performance. It involves identifying unnecessary memory usage and applying techniques that make data storage, processing, and resource allocation more efficient. Effective memory optimization allows applications to run reliably on systems with limited resources and can also improve overall system responsiveness.

For example, an AI application running on an edge device can reduce its memory requirements by using model quantization, pruning unnecessary parameters, compressing data, and managing temporary buffers efficiently. Developers may also optimize how objects are stored and released during execution to prevent memory from being unnecessarily occupied. Memory Optimization is especially important for mobile applications, embedded systems, edge AI, large-scale software, and cloud environments where efficient resource utilization can reduce hardware requirements and operating costs.
