Joint object tracking is a computer vision technique that follows multiple objects at the same time across a sequence of images or video frames. It identifies objects, assigns them individual tracking paths, and continuously updates their positions as they move. By combining detection and tracking information, the system can maintain awareness of several objects even when they change direction, overlap, or temporarily move out of view.

For example, traffic cameras can use joint object tracking to follow cars, bicycles, and pedestrians simultaneously as they move through an intersection. This helps systems understand movement patterns and interactions between objects. The technology is useful in autonomous vehicles, sports analysis, robotics, security systems, and video analytics, enabling better situational awareness and more reliable real-time decision-making.
