Event Processing is the process of receiving, examining, and acting on events generated by applications, devices, sensors, or business activities. It helps systems determine what an event means and what action should follow. Processing may include filtering, transforming, validating, combining, or routing event information so that the right response can occur at the right time.

For example, a payment system can process a transaction event by checking the payment details, confirming the account, updating the order, and sending a confirmation. In an industrial setting, sensor events can be processed to identify abnormal equipment conditions and trigger an alert. Event Processing is useful for real-time applications, automation, monitoring, security, and business workflows. It helps organizations respond quickly, reduce manual work, and keep systems operating efficiently.
