An Event Broker is a software component that receives events from applications or devices and delivers them to the systems that need to process them. It acts as an intermediary, allowing different systems to communicate without needing to connect directly to one another. When an event is generated, the broker receives it, organizes or routes it, and sends it to the appropriate subscribers or services.

For example, in an online shopping platform, an order event can be received by a broker and delivered to inventory, payment, shipping, and notification services. Each system can respond independently without creating separate connections to every other system. This improves communication between applications, supports scalable architectures, reduces system dependencies, and helps organizations process business events reliably and efficiently.
