Data Contextualization is the process of adding relevant background, meaning, and relationships to raw data so it can be understood and interpreted correctly. It connects data with information such as time, location, source, business conditions, user activity, or operational events, transforming isolated values into meaningful information.

Data Contextualization is important in analytics, artificial intelligence, IoT, and business intelligence. For example, a sensor reading becomes more useful when combined with the machine that produced it, its operating conditions, location, and historical performance. By providing the right context, organizations can improve data interpretation, identify meaningful patterns, support better decisions, and generate more accurate insights.
