Critical Event Detection is the process of identifying important or potentially dangerous events from continuous streams of data, signals, or system activity. It uses predefined rules, statistical analysis, machine learning, or AI to distinguish significant events from normal activity and determine when immediate attention may be required.

It is used in areas such as cybersecurity, industrial monitoring, healthcare, transportation, and IT operations. For example, a monitoring system can detect an unusual network intrusion, sudden equipment failure, abnormal sensor readings, or a major service disruption. Once a critical event is recognized, the system can generate an alert, prioritize the incident, or initiate an automated response, helping organizations react quickly and reduce potential impact.
