CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol) is a lightweight application-layer protocol designed for devices with limited processing power, memory, bandwidth, or energy. It provides a simple way for small devices to exchange data over IP networks using a request-response model similar to HTTP, but with much lower communication overhead.
CoAP is commonly used in IoT systems where sensors and embedded devices need to communicate efficiently. Smart lighting, environmental sensors, industrial monitoring devices, and building automation systems can use CoAP to send measurements or receive commands while conserving network and device resources.
