Change Detection is the process of identifying differences between two or more images, video frames, or data states captured at different times. In computer vision, algorithms compare visual information to determine whether objects have appeared, disappeared, moved, or otherwise changed within a monitored area.

In video surveillance, change detection can help identify events such as a vehicle entering a restricted zone, an object being removed, or a previously clear area becoming occupied. It is also used in environmental monitoring, infrastructure inspection, traffic analysis, and industrial operations where detecting meaningful changes quickly can support timely investigation and response.
