SPGS

Big Data refers to extremely large, complex, and rapidly generated datasets that traditional data-processing tools may struggle to store, manage, and analyze effectively. Its significance is not simply the amount of data involved, but the ability to combine and examine different data types, including transactions, sensor readings, clickstreams, and social interactions, to uncover patterns and support decisions.

Technologies such as distributed computing, data lakes, cloud platforms, and machine learning commonly support Big Data workflows. Organizations use it for applications such as fraud detection, recommendation systems, predictive maintenance, customer behavior analysis, and real-time operational analytics, where analyzing large and diverse datasets can reveal insights that smaller or isolated datasets may miss.
