Batch analytics is an approach to processing and analyzing data in groups rather than continuously as individual records arrive. Data is collected over a defined period or until a specified volume is reached, then processed together to generate reports, identify trends, calculate metrics, or support longer-term analysis. This approach can be more practical when immediate results are not required and large datasets need to be processed efficiently.
For example, a manufacturing organization may collect production, quality, and equipment data throughout a shift and analyze the complete dataset afterward to compare production rates, identify recurring defects, or evaluate equipment performance. Batch analytics is also used for activities such as financial reporting, historical forecasting, customer analysis, and scheduled data warehouse processing, where periodic analysis is sufficient.
