An AI Service Mesh is an infrastructure layer that manages communication between distributed AI services, models, data pipelines, and applications. It provides capabilities such as service discovery, traffic routing, load balancing, authentication, observability, and policy enforcement without requiring each AI service to implement these functions independently.

In AI environments, a service mesh can route requests between model-serving endpoints, coordinate inference workloads, manage versioned models, and monitor latency or failures across interconnected services. It is particularly useful in microservice-based AI platforms where multiple models and supporting components must operate reliably as a unified system.
