AI Governance is the set of policies, processes, controls, and oversight practices used to ensure that artificial intelligence is developed and operated responsibly. It addresses issues such as data privacy, security, fairness, transparency, accountability, regulatory compliance, and human oversight throughout an AI system’s lifecycle.

Effective AI governance helps organizations define who is responsible for AI decisions, how models are evaluated, and when human review is required. It is particularly important for high-impact applications such as lending, healthcare, hiring, insurance, and public services, where unreliable or biased AI decisions can have significant consequences.
