SPGS

Fraud detection is the process of identifying suspicious or deceptive activity that may cause financial, operational, or other types of harm. Technology systems analyze information such as transactions, account activity, login behavior, and usage patterns to find signs that an activity may not be legitimate. The goal is to detect potential fraud quickly while reducing unnecessary disruption to genuine users.

Fraud detection is widely used by banks, online retailers, payment platforms, insurance companies, and digital services. Modern systems can use predefined rules, statistical methods, and artificial intelligence to identify unusual patterns and assign a level of risk. When suspicious activity is detected, the system may request additional verification, temporarily block an action, or alert a security team for further investigation.
