Frame differencing is a technique used in video and image processing to detect changes between two or more consecutive frames. It compares the pixels in one frame with those in another and highlights areas where noticeable differences occur. This makes it useful for identifying movement, changes, or new objects within a scene.

The technique is commonly used in security cameras, motion detection systems, video analysis, and computer vision applications. For example, a surveillance system can compare each new frame with the previous one to detect a moving person or vehicle. Because it focuses on changes rather than analyzing every detail of a scene, frame differencing can provide a relatively simple and efficient way to detect motion in real time.
