Feature Matching is the process of comparing distinctive characteristics, or features, between different images or data sources to determine whether they correspond to the same object, location, or pattern. It is commonly used in computer vision to find similarities between visual information captured from different viewpoints or at different times.

For example, a vision system can compare recognizable points such as corners, edges, textures, or shapes in two photographs to determine whether they show the same building or object. Feature Matching is useful in image stitching, object recognition, augmented reality, robotics, and 3D reconstruction.
