Face Detection is a computer vision technology that identifies the presence and location of human faces within images or video. It analyzes visual information to recognize facial patterns and determine where faces appear, without necessarily identifying who the people are. The technology can work in real time using cameras and is commonly used as an initial step in systems that perform more advanced facial analysis.

For example, a smartphone camera can automatically detect a person’s face to adjust focus and exposure when taking a photo. In security systems, cameras can detect people entering or moving through a monitored area. Face Detection is useful in photography, video conferencing, access systems, retail analytics, and public safety. It enables faster image processing, improves camera functionality, and supports applications that need to respond to the presence of people.
