SPGS

Event Classification is the process of identifying and grouping events based on their characteristics, meaning, or importance. It helps software distinguish between different types of activities, such as purchases, system errors, security alerts, or user actions. Classification can use predefined rules or automated models to examine incoming event information and assign it to the appropriate category for further processing.

For example, a banking system can classify transactions as routine payments, unusual activity, or potential fraud based on factors such as location, amount, and transaction pattern. Different categories can then trigger different responses. This is useful for organizing large volumes of event data, improving monitoring, prioritizing important activities, automating responses, and helping organizations focus attention on events that require immediate action.
