CUDA, or Compute Unified Device Architecture, is a parallel computing platform and programming model developed by NVIDIA that allows software to use the processing power of GPUs for general-purpose computing. Instead of relying only on a CPU, CUDA enables computationally intensive workloads to be divided into many smaller operations that can run simultaneously across thousands of GPU processing cores.
CUDA is widely used in artificial intelligence, machine learning, scientific computing, computer vision, simulations, data processing, and high-performance computing. Developers can use CUDA libraries, APIs, and programming tools to accelerate tasks such as neural-network training, image processing, matrix calculations, and large-scale numerical workloads. By taking advantage of GPU parallelism, CUDA can significantly improve performance for applications that can be efficiently processed in parallel.
