A Camera Analytics Engine is software that processes video from cameras to detect, classify, and analyze objects, people, movements, or events within a scene. Rather than simply recording footage, the engine applies computer vision and machine learning models to extract useful information, such as counting vehicles, detecting restricted-area entry, recognizing unusual movement, or measuring occupancy.

These engines are used in applications including intelligent transportation, retail monitoring, industrial inspection, and security systems. For example, a traffic system can analyze camera feeds to identify vehicles, estimate traffic density, and detect incidents in near real time. Common technologies associated with camera analytics engines include object detection, video analytics, image recognition, and edge computing.
