Boundary detection is the process of identifying where one region, object, or state ends and another begins. In technology, it is often used in computer vision to locate the edges or contours of objects within an image, such as distinguishing a vehicle from its surroundings or identifying the boundary of a tumor in a medical scan.

The technique can rely on traditional image-processing methods or machine learning and deep learning models, depending on the complexity of the task. Boundary detection is particularly useful in image segmentation, autonomous navigation, medical imaging, and automated inspection, where precise object outlines are needed for accurate analysis or decision-making.
