Autonomous navigation is the ability of a vehicle, robot, drone, or other machine to determine its position, understand its surroundings, plan a route, and move toward a destination without continuous human control. The system combines information from sensors such as cameras, LiDAR, radar, and GPS with mapping and navigation algorithms to detect obstacles, estimate location, and adjust its path as the environment changes.

In warehouses, autonomous navigation allows mobile robots to move between storage areas and workstations while avoiding people, equipment, and unexpected obstacles. Similar capabilities support delivery robots, autonomous vehicles, drones, and inspection systems. Technologies such as simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM), computer vision, sensor fusion, path planning, and obstacle avoidance are commonly used to enable autonomous movement.
