Predictive Maintenance is a maintenance strategy that uses sensor data, equipment condition, historical records, and analytical models to identify signs of developing faults before they cause equipment failure. Instead of relying only on fixed maintenance schedules, it helps determine when servicing is likely to be needed based on the actual condition of an asset.

For example, sensors installed on a rotating machine can monitor vibration, temperature, pressure, or electrical characteristics and reveal patterns associated with wear or malfunction. Maintenance teams can use these insights to plan repairs, reduce unexpected downtime, extend equipment life, and improve the reliability of industrial operations.
